We had a lovely day, with a great bunch of people on our bus! We saw some stunning scenery and I’m grateful for being able to experience it! Overall, sam at detours gets 5/5, 10/10 etc etc but there’s way more that could have been done with the attractions. And unfortunately they only had 5 pairs of binoculars which we just missed out on. Same with the cruise- there was far more scope for history and facts and background that we just weren’t given. The Ghost Town is a bit of a let down, although we didn’t do the recommended mine tour so that’s our fault but they could definitely do way more with the ghost town than what they did. ![]() Sam gave us some awesome facts about the term “cowboys” and some really cool history on the mining and copper background but if it wasn’t for him, we wouldn’t have learnt that much. We wanted a deeper dive into the history of those settlers. Where the tour lacked and has absolutely nothing to do with sam really, is that the “tourist attractions” didn’t offer what we were looking for. Sam made sure we were well on time for the cruise to make sure we got good seats and opportunities for the hour and a half long trip. ![]() He did really well entertaining us and importantly, educating us about Phoenix, the mountains, the resident plant life and the ecology, the wildlife and the canal system with its history attached. ![]() Well prepared with water and sense of humour! He really did look after us. He ensured we were happy, healthy and comfortable. He welcomed us at our hotel in a clean, well kept van for our tour around the Apache Trail from Phoenix, seeing the Superstition Mountain Wilderness, Tortilla Flat, Goldfield Ghost Town and the scenic Dolly Steamboat Cruise on Canyon Lake.
